Bassoon Camp Scholarships

Our scholarship fund is in memory of Mark A. Popkin, Elsie Popkin, Doris Glickman, George and Margaret Comstock, Jim Laslie, and Jack Spratt.

Through the amazing generosity of past and present campers, and fund-raising events held during camp, we are able to offer scholarship assistance to student campers. Without these funds, many college aged students would not have the opportunity to study with the great players we bring as guest artists every year.

We have a number of partial tuition remission scholarships available for those in critical need.  The scholarship amount will be $425 off the total balance. Applicants must submit:

  • A scholarship application form (including a personal essay)

  • Teacher Recommendation

“Receiving a scholarship to GPBC enabled me to pursue my passion to the fullest. Where I’m at, it is difficult to find other bassoonists to collaborate with and enhance my own musicianship. To go play in the mountains with nearly a hundred other bassoonists from around the world grants me a plethora of knowledge to learn form. Thanks to this scholarship I learned different reed styles, unique bassoon sounds in a variety of contexts, inspiring non-western repertoire, and connected with renowned virtuosos.” — Christopher Corona, 2022 Scholarship Recipient

“I had a wonderful time at GPBC! It was an incredible experience getting to talk with bassoonists of all different backgrounds and skill sets. I learned so much about myself as a musician and as a person at this camp. I highly recommend going!”

— Elizabeth Novak, 2022 Scholarship Recipient
