Recital hour is Everything!

Whether you want to perform an unaccompanied bassoon solo or have a quintet+, bring your music and perform during the daily recital hours. Everyone is welcome on the stage and we encourage all campers to perform. Check out some past performances.

"Steamboat" was originally improvised by Bruce Grainger, bassoonist, while he was living in Paris. He was a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 1986 until his death in 2006. Truman Bullard, bassoonist and Professor Emeritus at Dickinson College, was commissioned by Paul Nordby, bassoon restorative artist, to transcribe Bruce's solo improvisation and compose a work for bassoon and piano based upon it. The publisher will donate all proceeds from the sale of this piece to the Elsie Dinsmore Popkin Memorial Scholarship at the Glickman-Popkin Bassoon Camp in Wildacres, North Carolina.

Performed at the GPBC by Lisa Alexander (bassoon) and Nancy Johnson (piano).
